Single Sign-On (SSO).

Introduction to SSO

We have a new security feature in Ed Controls exclusively for Expert licensees. This feature allows Admins to enforce Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication with services such as Microsoft and Google for specific contracts.

This feature is designed to ensure that only internal users with selected SSO domains have access to sensitive contact information, enhancing the security of your project information. When an employee is removed from the specified SSO provider, his/her access to Ed Controls is immediately terminated.

To activate, Admins can enable SSO in the contract settings. Only domains owned by Admins can be added, excluding commonly used domains such as gmail.com to ensure the security of organization emails. All users under whitelisted domains will be logged out and notified of the SSO requirement within 24 hours of activation.

While SSO is enforced for internal users, Ed Controls remains accessible to external partners. These users can continue to log in using the traditional username and password method, so collaborations are not hindered by the new security measures.

Follow the steps below to enable SSO:

  1. Check the license type in Ed Controls. An Expert license is required to enable SSO;
  2. Send an email to all users affected by these changes. See below an example for the content of such an email:
  3. Enable SSO by turning on the switch in the Contract Information to “Enforced Single Sign On (SSO) for internal partners.” Add email domain and permission method (gmail/Microsoft/Apple).
  4. If additional email domains need to be added, please contact Support with the following information? Contract name, Domains to whitelist, activation date.

If there are multiple domains, it is wise to add them in stages. If SSO is activated, then all users with the deleted email domains are logged out and must log in again. If users log out directly, they are not logged out by the system and must log in directly via SSO.

Topic: Important update: Changes to the login process for Ed Controls

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to inform you of a change in the Ed Controls login process. As of (DATE), login will have to be done using Single Sign-On (SSO). This change means that everyone will have to log into Ed Controls again on this date.

What exactly is changing?

As of (DATE), we are moving to Single Sign-On (SSO) for Ed Controls.

This means that from now on you have to log in through your Microsoft account. The new process makes logging in easier and more secure because you use one central login for multiple applications.

Logging in with email address and password will no longer be possible.

What to do.

Be sure to log in again on (DATE) and choose the option to log in through Microsoft. You will then need to log into Microsoft with your company account. Once you have done this, you will automatically be logged into Ed Controls as well.

Need help?

Should you experience any problems logging in, please feel free to contact the IT department. They are ready to assist you with the login process.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding with this change.
