How to create an audit template via Excel
With Excel, you can quickly create an audit template with multiple categories and questions.
You complete the template in Excel and then upload it into Ed Controls.
This is useful for large audits or when you reuse templates frequently.
This feature is available for the roles:
Administrator, Final Responsible, and Support
Follow the steps below.
Step 1 – Go to Templates
- Go to web.edcontrols.com
- Click Templates in the top menu
- Click + New / Import templates
- Click Create template via Excel
Step 2 – Download the Excel template
- Choose Download empty template
or - Choose Download template with examples
- Open the Excel file on your computer
- Preferably use the original file and do not change the structure
Step 3 – Complete the Excel file
- Open the Excel file
- You will see multiple tabs

4. Add categories and questions
5. Use the dropdown lists in Excel to select the correct question type
6. Do not change the columns
Step 4 – Upload the Excel file
- Go back to Ed Controls
- Click Upload template
- Select the completed Excel file
- Click Upload
Step 5 – File check
- Ed Controls automatically checks the file
- If there is an error, you will see exactly where the issue is

- When you want to prepare templates outside Ed Controls
