A challenging project on the Handelskade

On the Handelskade in Deventer, Nijhuis Bouw is working on De Kop Handelskade: a striking new construction project with three tall residential and office buildings totaling sixteen floors. For work planner Wilrik Pouw, it is his first project on the construction site, and immediately one of the most challenging.

"For us, this is a bit of the Champions League of construction. We haven't built this high in recent years, but in the future we will realize high-rise projects of this size more often."

The construction site is on the edge of the city center, where many pedestrians and cyclists pass by daily. This requires careful planning, smart logistics and close cooperation between all parties involved. Thanks to good preparation, clear communication and the use of digital tools such as Ed Controls, the team maintains overview and quality, even with this complex construction.

Digital quality control with Ed Controls

For the construction of De Kop Handelskade, the Nijhuis Bouw team is using Ed Controls to digitally record and track many controls. The software provides a central overview of all quality and safety inspections, so everyone always knows the status of the work.

"With Ed Controls, we keep a grip on every detail. From reinforcement to window frames, everything is clearly arranged in one system."

Where checks and reports used to be kept largely manual, the team now records everything digitally. As a result, deviations are noticed and resolved faster. This not only makes for a more efficient process, but also creates more trust with external parties, such as the municipality, which looks at the inspection reports.

Efficient collaboration and communication

Ed Controls is used within the project for checking reinforcement, wall supports, insulation and window frames, among other things. Drawings are loaded for each floor, so that deviations or damages are immediately recorded in the right place. Thanks to the clear structure and photo reports, suppliers and subcontractors know exactly where something needs to be adjusted or replaced.

This way of working saves time, prevents misunderstandings and makes it easy to share reports. Instead of separate e-mails or spreadsheets, everyone has the same, up-to-date information. This ensures that progress remains continuously transparent and promotes pleasant cooperation between all parties.

"As a work planner you want to keep an overview. Ed Controls gives me that confidence; I know exactly what is still open and what has already been completed."

Safety and structure on the construction site

In addition to quality assurance, Ed Controls also plays an important role in safety inspections. Each month, the team conducts an audit using the app. These checklists ensure that nothing is forgotten and that risks can be addressed quickly.

The working method fits well with Nijhuis Bouw's culture, where cooperation and quality are key. The tool helps the team to work in a structured way, even on a busy inner-city construction site where many suppliers and partners are active every day.

Grip on quality and confidence in the result

For work planner Wilrik Pouw, the biggest advantage of Ed Controls is the overview and control that the system offers. All outstanding issues are immediately visible and can easily be followed up. As a result, as a work planner, he always keeps control over the quality of the work.

The use of Ed Controls also ensures transparency towards clients and supervisors. All controls are well documented, so that external parties also have confidence in the way Nijhuis Bouw works.

The result is a more efficient construction site, fewer mistakes and a better end product.
