Proper documentation, avoiding fines

On a construction site, effective risk management is crucial, as you may face fines if there’s no evidence of an incident. For example, if an employee slips on spilled material but there is no documentation or photos showing that the path was clean beforehand. Another example is damage to a parked excavator, where it’s difficult to determine who is responsible without evidence. Without proof, it becomes hard to explain the incident, which could lead to fines or other legal consequences.

The role of HSE/risk coordinator: Smart inspections

In construction, effective risk management is essential for controlling risks and ensuring safety. As an HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) or risk coordinator, you are often responsible for conducting inspections and monitoring measures on-site. Thanks to modern technology like Ed Controls, coordinators can now efficiently manage many aspects of risk management without always needing to be physically present on-site.

Quality assurance for construction (Wkb)
Quality assurance for building (Wkb) is monitoring the quality of design and implementation so that the end result meets the requirements of the Building Decree. In the current system, the municipality assesses building plans in advance and supervises implementation in accordance with the permit granted. Under the Construction Quality Assurance Act, parties in the construction industry are themselves responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulations. They do so on the basis of a quality assurance instrument, applied by an independent quality assurance officer (see diagram). Since 2020 – in anticipation of the introduction of the Wkb in 2023 – pilot projects with quality assurance have been launched and Ambassador Networks have been launched.
